Beautiful medium Abalone Smudge bowls for smudge sticks such as white sage bundles.
4-5 inches
Abalone shells (known in New Zealand as paua) are often used in smudging rituals because they are able to catch the hot cinders that fall away from the smudging stick and are also from Mother Earth’s ocean.
Including abalone shells in your smudging rituals means you are incorporating all four of the earth’s elements: the shell represents water, the smoke represents air, the unlit herbs or sticks represent earth and once they’re lit they represent fire.
Abalone shells can become hot when smudging sticks are left inside. They are also holes in the shell, so be sure not hot embers fall onto flammable surfaces. Use with caution.
